Update on Luke
Last week just a few days after the deer accident Luke started having really bad abdominal pain. It was very similar to this past summer when he ended up in the emergency room and after much testing we finally found out he has Ulcerative Colitis. If you missed that you can read about that here. He has been on Remicade treatments since this summer and is doing much better. We are still trying to figure out his diet and have much to learn but this is a journey. He hasn't had an attack like this since beginning treatments and recently had a treatment so we were really concerned and weren't sure what was going on. The doctors ordered a CT scan and thankfully the results were good! The doctor said his colon looks much better compared to his last one over the summer and there was no inflammation!! We were so excited to hear that and to know that the treatments are working. Since there was no inflammation the doctor did not think Luke was having a flare-up. He said there was a virus going around that mainly caused abdominal pain and said that was probably what Luke was dealing with since his immune system is suppressed. He ordered some blood work and wanted to see how Luke felt in the next few days. The doctor said that if he did not get better or if it happens again he will want to do another colonoscopy and possibly change dose or timing of treatments or try a new treatment. Thankfully, Luke is feeling much better! We are praying it was just a virus. Please continue to pray for us as we learn how to deal with this. Pray that Luke can make healthy eating and exercise choices and that we will be able to determine exactly what foods he cannot tolerate. Thank you for praying! We believe in the power of prayer!
