Wow....I can't believe it's been two whole years! In a way it seems like it's been way longer than that and in another way it seems like it was just yesterday. Either way it doesn't feel like it's been two years since Landen was diagnosed with Primordial Dwarfism (PD). We've certainly come a long ways and A LOT has happened since then! We've learned a lot and there is still much to be learned. As I reflect back on the day our journey took a huge unexpected turn as well as these past two years one word comes to mind: faithful. God has been so faithful every step of the way! We're certainly not surprised by that. We knew He would be, but there is a difference between believing it and experiencing it! It has been an amazing journey to see God at work first hand!
I will say the second year has been easier than that first year. However, that doesn't mean we don't have bad days or that we still don't wonder why sometimes. It doesn't mean we don't worry anymore. We've gotten use to the looks, the questions, and the conversations with strangers. Even though those things are sometimes still difficult. We know there will be many more issues to face...probably a lot we haven't even thought of yet. We also know God has a divine purpose for Landen and our family. We just try to take one day at a time and seek to fulfill God's purpose for allowing us to walk this path. Words cannot explain the joy we feel by having Landen in our family. We are so thankful God chose us to be his parents. It is an overwhelming responsibility but at the same time an awesome privilege. Thank you Lord for giving us Landen!
The Lord spoke to us through His Word with the following verses, some the day of and others within days of Landen's diagnosis. They have helped us tremendously and have been a source of strength! It's amazing how we came across these verses. I might have to save that for another post! Will you please, not just read these verses but meditate on them and let God speak to you as well!
~Romans 8:18-"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
~2 Corinthians 4:17-"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;"
~Isaiah 26:3-4-"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:"
~Deuteronomy 31: 8-"And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed."
