Landen had two appointments on March 10th. He saw Dr. Patel first. He is Landen's immunologist and he is great!! We are so thankful for him. His role in the transplant is keeping Landen healthy before and during transplant. This appointment was basically a follow-up but it went well.Next, we met the new doctor on the Bone Marrow Transplant Team, Dr. Roehrs. Ironically, his last name is pronounced "rares." He has had extensive training in rare hematology issues, including LIG IV. This was very encouraging to us and amazing to think about how our paths have crossed, for such a time as this! God is so good!!
The appointment was a lengthy consultation as we got to know each other a little bit and discuss where we are at with Landen. We are so glad to have him on board! He gave us some great news and told us that two 10 out of 10 matches had been found in the national registry for a possible donor. We were so thankful and excited about this!! Both doctors ordered blood work. The ladies in the lab are great! They let Landen take his vials to the lab and showed him how it all worked!

Everyone at Levine's is wonderful!! They always take their time with us as if we are their only patient that day. This really makes a difference and helps the whole process!!
After the appointment we grabbed lunch at the Chick-fil-A in the hospital and Landen got his own Dr. Pepper! He thought that was the best thing!

The following week, the nurse called with the lab results and said we needed to come back in a week instead of in a month. She said Landen's platelets had dropped more than any other time. She said the doctor wanted to discuss possibly moving quicker with the transplant because of these results and since a possible donor had been found. While this was not what we wanted to hear we weren't really surprised. He has not had blood work done in a while so we were anxious for it to be checked.

We went back to the doctor on March 22nd. The appointment went well. The doctor did more blood work and scheduled a bone marrow aspiration and possible biopsy for Wednesday, March 29th. The possible donor was tested a week ago Friday to confirm the match. All of these results will determine the next step but the doctor said we could have a transplant date by the end of the week.

On Friday we got some of the results of his blood work and thankfully Landen's platelets came back up some! This is good news, however, the doctor still wants to do the bone marrow procedure on Wednesday. Please pray that all will go well on Wednesday and that the results will be good. Please also pray for us as reality hits us more and more as the transplant gets closer. We greatly appreciate every single prayer that is prayed on our behalf and we believe in the power of prayer!!
