Landen had surgery on Monday, the 26th. As I mentioned in a previous update we thought he would have to and we found out 2 weeks ago that he did need surgery to correct an undescended testicle. It truly is amazing how God works because Landen was sent to a urologist for another issue that turned out to be very minor. However, because of this minor issue this other problem was found that had to be corrected through surgery. We arrived at Duke Children's Hospital shortly before 11am on Monday. It turned out to be a very LONG day!! Although Landen had not had anything to eat all day and only had a very small amount of apple juice once he was such a trooper!! He only asked for something a couple of times and only really got upset once! He's so tough!!
This was right before they called us back for pre-op close to 3:00!

Luke was able to go back with him until he fell asleep which helped make things a lot easier!! This was shortly before 5pm. The operation officially began at 5:19 and we were called back to recovery around 6:40.
This was in recovery. As expected he was a little fussy and very sleepy! He woke up off and on and took a couple of sips of apple juice. Then we were told we could go home!! On two different occasions he told the nurse and Nana as they were about to do something to "be easy!" LOL! The doctor gave a great report and said that the surgery was successful! It turns out there was a very small hernia that had trapped the testicle. He removed the hernia and moved the testicle to it's correct location. Landen has 3 incisions total. We left the hospital around 8:30.
Landen's recovery is going really well! Thankfully, he slept all night after surgery and slept in the next morning. Surprisingly though after he woke up he was ready to play and move about! He doesn't let anything stop him that's for sure! He obviously though is sore and moving slower than usual and can't run and jump around like he usually does but it won't be long and he'll be back to his normal self! The only restriction he has is no straddle toys for a month which means no tricycle! :-( That is his favorite thing to do when we go outside but at least it's temporary and he'll be back on it before we know it!! He'll return to see the surgeon for a follow-up appointment in six weeks.
He's already back to playing! :-)
