It's been another great and busy day! Today felt like a big transition day and the plan is still to get discharged tomorrow! We can't believe it! The BMT team is very happy with how things are going. As the time gets closer we get more excited but also more anxious! It's so weird to have such mixed emotions about leaving the hospital but we've gotten so use to being here and having the nurses at the push of a button. We've gotten to know so many of the nurses. It's scary to think we'll be on our own and responsible for so much. However, we have been assured the team is just a phone call away! Plus it's looking like we'll go to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) which will be just across the street. Getting discharged is a big step but we still have a long road ahead of us. I'm a little nervous about being in a new place and getting used to Landen's care on our own and adjusting to a new schedule, with clinic visits possibly three times a week and his daily medicine schedule. It is overwhelming! But it is progress and we know the Lord is faithful! He has supplied every need and we know He will continue!
Landen's platelets are almost normal today and they expect them to be at a normal level tomorrow! This is amazing. We're pretty sure they've never been normal! Landen did a cheek swab test today to see if his cells are donor cells or his own cells. The results from this test will be back in a few days. His diarrhea and vomiting has improved a lot! He did get sick twice last night after taking some medicine but thankfully he hasn't today. I noticed an extremely exciting thing today. Landen's warts are clearing up fast! I couldn't believe it this morning when I noticed they were peeling. I checked the biggest one tonight and it was nearly gone! If you've been following Landen's story you know that the warts on his fingers were a huge red flag that he needed a BMT and he has had them for a LONG time...a couple of years probably. I knew they would clear up once he got his new immune system but the doctor's acted like it would take a long time so I just wasn't expecting it this soon. This is incredible and so exciting!!
Landen had several visitors today. Bro. Gary Brown and his wife, Mrs. Genelle and Ashlyn, the Winoker's, two firemen from the Lincolnton Fire Dept., and Papa and Granny came tonight with PaPaw and Nana! He got to video call with his friends Myles, Zechariah, and Emma! Landen got to take a wheelchair ride again and he had a blast! Sophie got to join him for most of it and they had a great time entertaining the entire floor!! He wore himself out again and was ready to rest and take it easy tonight. Hopefully this is our last night in the hospital!!!!
